Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht thanked Trump in his first message after the pardon

As Trump begins his second term, his approach to pardons has already sparked debate. Among them is the pardon of Ross Ulbricht, the convicted mastermind behind Silk Road, the infamous online marketplace for selling drugs and firearms

Earlier during his campaign, Trump promised to pardon Ulbricht, and he fulfilled this promise, calling the sentence "ridiculous" during his statement on Tuesday

Ulbricht expressed how surreal it feels to be free after more than 11 years in prison, stating: "I was serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole... but he let me out. Now I'm a free man"
