Ripple CTO pushes back against $XRP centralization speculation

Ripple CTO pushes back against $XRP centralization speculation

One of the loudest critics of Ripple is Pierre Rochard, Vice President of Research at Riot Platforms. He claims that Ripple could theoretically fork the XRPL software, change the escrow locks, or even introduce trillions of additional $XRP into the supply

But David Schwartz took the opportunity to push back. His explanation of how XRPL works painted a completely different picture — one where decentralization is not just a theory, but a functional reality

Schwartz emphasized that XRPL relies on a consensus algorithm rather than Proof-of-Work for validating transactions. Unlike $BTC mining, $XRPL validators are not compensated, which reduces the incentive to behave dishonestly or control the system
